Core Programs

Building Bridges:
Mission: Establish consistent, viable, and productive relationships with African and other people groups in the United States. Goal I: Foster reconciliation, unity, and understanding with Christian groups and persons. Actions/Activities: (A). Establish a yearly Africa Day event at local and regional levels that includes representation of the entire African and non African constituencies. (B). Incorporate ACF action plans on building bridges into relevant ACF activities at chapter, Regional, and National levels. (C). Engage in dialogue aimed at improving understanding and collaboration among target Groups. Goal II: Foster collaboration with appropriate organizations, agencies, and persons. Actions/Activities: (A). Clearly identify representative constituencies with whom we need to work. (B). Identify areas of common interests and differences with these constituencies through survey from within and outside the fellowship. (C). Maintain a policy statement that clearly defines the independent, nondenominational, ministerial position of the Fellowship in regard to relationships with other organizations and people groups. (D). Leverage our spiritual, economic, and political capabilities to facilitate the achievement of the ACF goals and objectives. (E). Enable a bridge building task force to create effective communication and marketing strategies, prints, media, technology, and outcomes assessments. Goal III: Enhance positive mutual perceptions of Africans and other people groups. Actions/Activities: (A). Establish functional relationships at the regional level with representatives of the identified constituencies. E.g., work jointly on common projects. (B). Identify and deal with issues of misunderstanding between African and African Americans openly and objectively. (C). Educate members on the history and contributions of various groups, notably African Americans, in the United States. (D). Initiate mutual exchange of speakers and participation in programs between the Fellowship and the African American churches and other groups. Goal IV: Increase and maintain the membership and participation of all African countries in the Fellowship to the proportion of their national populations. Actions/Activities: (A). Evaluate the national composition of the Fellowship on a yearly basis in order to inform and direct the deployment of special recruitment efforts. (B). Eliminate language barriers without stifling cultural expression in the Fellowship. (C). Use inclusive language and programming and distribution selection of projects

Building Family:
Mission: Build and preserve a stable, functional, and harmonious community that effectively addresses the spiritual, physical, social, and emotional needs, and recognizes the diversity of its members. Goal I: Teach, apply and implement consistent biblical principles on individual responsibility, marriage, and the family. Actions/Activities: (A). Identify core biblical principles for individual living, marriage, and family. (B). Encourage personal spiritual growth through bible study, prayer, and consistent godly living. (C). Organize marriage and family seminars and retreats. (D). Encourage the use of pastoral counseling services if and when necessary. (E). Gather, maintain, update and apply objective data on the family and community (F). Hold members accountable to the core principles on individual and family living. Goal II: Teach and encourage effective communication among family members. Actions/Activities: (A). List, clarify, and publicize our common family values. (B). Encourage families and fellowships to set family/fellowship goals. (C). Implement frequent and consistent family meetings and devotions. (D). Organize relevant teachings, seminars, and workshops on communications. (E). Encourage and facilitate family to family mentoring. Goal III: Consistently apply biblical principles of economics and stewardship at family and fellowship affairs. Actions/Activities: (A). Educate, train, and counsel members towards a successful life. (B). Develop and implement individual, family, and fellowship budgets. (C). Provide training programs on financial management. (D). Demonstrate faithfulness in giving at the individual, family, and fellowship levels. (E). Encourage diligence, resourcefulness, entrepreneurs, and generosity at all levels. Goal IV: Recognize and account for the cultural and environmental factors that impact on our values, performance, and effectiveness. Actions/Activities: (A). Consider the cultural diversity of members in program planning. (B). Organize seminars on cultural issues within a biblical framework. (C). Encourage productive dialogue between adults and youth, parents and children. (D). Organize special activities such as training, picnics, excursions, for young people and children (E). Organize workshops on American society and our mutual expectations. Goal V: Increase the total membership of the Fellowship by at least 10% per year. Actions/Activities: (A). Train ACF leaders to articulate the ACF vision. (B). Organize evangelistic events and activities such as bible studies. (C). Organize Africa Day activities each year. (D). Develop and disseminate information on the Fellowship. (E). Recruit other organizations and groups for full or affiliate membership. (F). Seek referrals of arriving potential members from ministers and groups in Africa

Passing The Legacy:
Mission: Inculcate in our children an appreciation of the vision and values of the ACF, thereby equipping them to effectively serve God's purpose in their generation. Goal I: Equip ACF parents to consistently demonstrate practical Christian living before our children. Actions/Activities: (A). Encourage parents to create a home environment that is conducive to effective discussion and interaction with their children. (B). Encourage parents to review their lives with their children. (C). Organize training workshops for parents on effective child rearing habits. (D). Conduct surveys of parents on child training issues and apply the results to enhance the quality of training and the effectiveness of child learning. (E). Create an attractive atmosphere to encourage the children to participate in activities at home and at the Fellowship. Goal II: Train the children to clearly understand, accept, and articulate the ACF vision. Actions/Activities: (A). Publicize the tenets of the ACF vision. (B). Teach ACF children the meaning and purpose of the ACF vision. (C). Provide opportunities for the children to participate in implementing the ACF vision. (D). Organize camps, seminars, Bible clubs, quizzes, and role modeling sessions for our children. (E). Provide materials to assist the children in learning the Bible. (F). Encourage the children to apply biblical principles in their daily living (G). Establish local Christian libraries or exchange to provide book, videos, tapes, and similar media for the benefit of children and parents. Goal III: Nurture and maintain the values and purpose of the African Christian heritage. Actions/Activities: (A). Narrate, teach and write on our African Christian heritage. (B). Motivate our children to excel in every endeavor. (C). Establish regional libraries or reading centers to contain diverse media for education and training in our heritage. (D). Organize or support the organization of games, sports, social activities. (E). Organize educational trips to Africa and develop fundraising strategies to enable parents and the fellowship to support such trips. Goal IV: Facilitate the contextual implementation of the ACF Vision. Actions/Activities: (A). Establish and promote ACF campus ministry. (B). Work with campus ministries to identify and encourage African Christians. (C). Initiate efforts to educate local schools about African culture. (D). Promote exchange programs with school children in Africa. (E). Organize niche fellowships and activities within the Fellowship.

Reconnecting With Africa:
Mission: Initiate and maintain active and relevant connections with the continent and peoples of Africa to maximize the benefits of Africa's spiritual, social, economic, and cultural resources. Goal I: Support missionary activities in Africa. Actions/Activities: (A). Develop aggressive, imaginative, and transparent programs to raise funds and resources both from within and outside the Fellowship to support missions. (B). Actively support the training and development of missionaries in Africa. (C). Sponsor Christian missionaries and organizations to work among unreachable Africans both in the continent and in the Diaspora. (D). Create and maintain a database of trustworthy Christian Churches and Ministries in Africa and among Africans in the Diaspora for use in communication and support . (E). Provide Christian literature, tapes, videos, and films to stimulate growth and development of Christian and Churches in Africa. Goal II: Promote economic investments in Africa. Actions/Activities: (A). Create and maintain a database of expertise within the fellowship to draw upon for consultations and actions to help economic development in Africa. (B). Facilities business partnerships between American and African companies. (C). Encourage the establishment of businesses by Fellowship members in Africa. (D). Supply educational materials, books, equipment, and computers to educational institutions in Africa. (E). Facilitate the exchange of scholars between Universities in the Continent and in the United States. (F). Support the establishment of quality schools in needy communities in Africa. Goal III: Mobilize relief efforts for Africa. Actions/Activities: (A). Organize and undertake humanitarian relief efforts in Africa to demonstrate Christian love and compassion to needy Africans. (B). Identify and establish relationships with agencies in the United States thereby also developing a record of sources and experiences for potential action in Africa. (C). Seek membership on Boards and teams of organizations undertaking relief activities in Africa. (D). Maintain a news network to be informed of actionable events in Africa. Goal IV: Enhance the health and social well being of peoples in Africa. Actions/Activities: (A). Solicit dental, medical, pharmaceutical, and hospital supplies for shipment to Africa. (B). Mobilize volunteer teams of professional and technical experts for short-term services in Africa. (C). Recognize individuals and organizations for their exemplary service to Africa. (D). Support the development of strategic infrastructure all over Africa. Goal V: Educate ACF members on current issues and needs in Africa. Actions/Activities: (A). Regularly publish and circulate informative Newsletters and Reports on the Fellowship's mission's activities and needs. (B). Organize missions awareness for the benefit of our members. (C). Publish a brochure of ACF activities in Africa and circulate to other relevant organizations. (D). Maintain an internet news link and news mailing list for members. (E). Invite missionaries, indigenous, and other workers in Africa to speak on missions and welfare issues. Goal VI: Recognize and promote positive African culture. Actions/Activities: (A). Encourage and organize tourist trips to Africa. (B). Create and maintain a database of host families in various African nations to receive tourists. (C). Establish regional cultural, library, or community centers to teach and promote core Godly African values such as respect for elders, care for the elderly and the young, responsibility of the youth, entrepreneurs, responsibility to the extend family, chastity, honor, integrity, resilience and resourcefulness. (D). Encourage parents to teach their children their native vernacular language. (E). Develop aggressive, imaginative, and transparent programs to raise funds and other resources both from within ACF and outside for promoting Godly African cultural values.
